The New York Daily News reported that a "boozed-up bigot" attacked Muslim cab driver Ahmed Sharif in the throat, lip, arm and hand with a pocket knife. He was treated at Bellevue Hospital and released with minor injuries.

Alleged attacker Michael Enright, 21, was captured after attempting to flee and sent to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and was arraigned on Wednesday. That raises an interesting question, though: Will his New York criminal attorney attempt an insanity defense?

Steven Slater became an Internet sensation overnight after he left his job as a JetBlue flight attendant in the most dramatic way possible. The flight attendant burst into rage on Monday when an airline passenger was being rude on Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh to New York. The Huffington post reports that when the plane was taxiing to the gate at JFK Airport, Steven Slater kindly said into the intercom "To the passenger who just called me a motherf***er, f*** you. I've been in this business 28 years, and I've had it."

The flight attendant then grabbed a beer off of the beverage cart and made his grand exit by activating the emergency chutes and sliding off the plane.

New York law enforcers arrested Caroline Giuliani, daughter of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, after she allegedly took over $100 worth of makeup from an Upper East Side Sephora store and put the cosmetics into her jacket pocket. The items included a Slim roller ball funnel, Dior Skin flash primer, Hd bliss, Aqua cream, and a hair net.

The New York Post reports that she was placed behind bars at the 19th Precinct station for petit larceny last week. However, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office may have some difficulties prosecuting Caroline Giuliani because Sephora stated that they declined to press charges once they learned that Caroline was the daughter of the city's former mayor.

The devastating story of a mother that allegedly threw her 19-month-old baby in the Hudson River to get back at her husband when she was angry with him may have somewhat of a happy ending after all.

New York Daily News reports that the 34-year-old mother Devi Silvia now has a New York criminal defense attorney that is using the insanity defense so that she can avoid a conviction of attempted murder. Lawyers say that Devi Silvia was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that the woman was legally insane at the time the crime was committed.
